Color has a cause.

Patients often describe all discoloration the same way — as "pigmentation" or "redness" — but visible color can be pigmentary, vascular, inflammatory or mixed, and can sit at different depths. The treatment decision begins with identifying what's actually creating the color, not with choosing a laser.

How the technology is chosen

The wavelength follows the target — not the other way around.

A multi-purpose laser platform is not a reason to treat every concern with the same device. Once assessment identifies what's actually creating the color — and at what depth — the option below is selected to match that target, patient skin characteristics and clinical objective. The question is never "can this platform treat it?" It's which option, if any, is the appropriate match for what was found.

Technology options

Four options exist within this family. Which, if any, applies follows from assessment — not from this list.

    PicoWay

    Pigment is not one problem.

    A picosecond, multi-wavelength laser platform. Wavelength and applicator are chosen for the depth and type of pigment identified — a technical capability, not a claim that one wavelength suits every pigmentary finding.

    Vbeam

    When redness is the target.

    A pulsed-dye laser platform centered on vascular treatment, absorbed preferentially by vascular targets. Considered when a vascular component is contributing meaningfully to the concern — not every red appearance is a vascular target.

  • 03

    GentleMax Pro

    Two wavelengths. Different targets.

    Combines two laser wavelengths in one platform. A vascular target, a melanin-related target and other applications are not the same biological problem simply because one platform can reach more than one of them — wavelength selection still follows diagnosis.

  • 04

    Nordlys

    One platform. Multiple clinical jobs.

    Nordlys is not one treatment — it's a platform combining several technologies that address different tissue targets. The patient may need one component, a sequence of components, or an entirely different option in this family.

    • SWT IPL

      Filtered light bands for selected pigmentary and vascular targets, depending on configuration.

    • 1550 nm fractional

      A non-ablative fractional wavelength used for deeper resurfacing and texture-related applications.

    • 1940 nm fractional

      A more superficial non-ablative fractional wavelength used for resurfacing and selected benign pigmented lesions.

    • 1064 nm Nd:YAG

      A wavelength option used for selected vascular and other indicated targets.

When another approach may make more sense

Not every visible color is a laser target. If redness, inflammation, texture or another process is contributing more to the appearance than pigment or vascularity themselves, a different treatment family — or a medical evaluation before any procedure — may be more appropriate. Diagnosis, triggers and skin sensitivity can all change the plan.
